‘Impossible’

Mr Lippestad said Mr Breivik’s list of demands was “far from the real world” and “completely impossible to fulfil” and showed “he doesn’t know how society works”.

Norwegian flagThe 22 July attacks have traumatised Norway

“His demands here includes the complete overthrowing of both the Norwegian and European societies,” he told the Associated Press. “But it shows that he doesn’t understand the situation he’s in.”

The 32-year-old had linked his demands to his willingness to share information about other alleged terrorist cells, Mr Lippestad said.

Norwegian police have previously cast doubt on Mr Breivik’s claims that he was part of a broader network but said they would investigate them.

A court has appointed two psychiatrists to try to examine Mr Breivik’s actions, with a mandate to report back by 1 November.

Mr Lippestad said Mr Breivik had asked that he also be examined by Japanese mental health specialists as he believes “the Japanese understand the idea and values of honour” and would understand him better than Europeans.

The lawyer has previously said his client is probably insane.

Mr Lippestad added that a second list from his client requested items like cigarettes and civilian clothes.

Adrian Chen — What is it about bicycle lanes that turns people into shouty braindead panic robots? Case in point: This news report casts bike lanes as literally a terrorist threat.
Crusading anti-bike lane CBS 2 reporter Marcia Kramer is on the scene at a proposed Manhattan bike lane: “A Second Avenue bike lane is next to the Israeli Consulate,” she says. “Imagine if the man on the bike was a terrorist!”
We did imagine a pack of Huffy-riding suicide bombers bearing down on soft targets throughout the country, and it was terrifying.
Which raises the questions: Why do we allow bike lanes at all? Why are we making it easier for environmentally-friendly terrorists to wreck havoc on our cities? If your house is on a street with a bike lane, you may as well have a big bullseye over your roof with the words “bomb me,” stenciled in big red letters.
Outlawing bike lanes will eliminate the threat of bicycle-based terrorism, since you’d have to be a suicidal maniac to ride on a street without a bike lane. [CBS 2 via Gothamist]

There was the recent killing of Dr. Tiller, along with other acts of terrorism against abortion clinics. Byron Williams is another example. He is the man who got into a shootout with some cops in July while en route to kill some of the grant makers at the Tides Foundation. It is particularly notable that Fox News forgot about these two terrorists since Fox News has at least some role to play in these two nut jobs. Bill O called Dr. Tiller, “Tiller, the baby killer” and mentioned him on the show at least 28 times. The Tides is a low profile, non-controversial, nonprofit group. However, Glenn Beck for some reason attacked The Tides on his show 29 times. The Tides Foundation CEO blames Glenn Beck for his role in the shootout, calling on advertisers to boycott Beck’s show or they will “have blood on your hands.” Byron Williams was even quoted as saying, “I would have never started watching Fox News if it wasn’t for the fact that Beck was on there. And it was the things that he did, it was the things he exposed that blew my mind.” Homegrown terrorists, indeed. These are Fox grown terrorists, so I guess they are okay.
